Celia's First Christmas

Christmas this year was so much fun. Celia was so good and she was a hit with all the extended family that hadn't met her before.  We went to a lot of houses and saw lots of relatives.  We also got to see Mama's best friend from high school - Missy and her girls Carly and Selyne.  Celia got so many toys, she could probably open her own toy store!  And she also got a good jump on the college fund.

Cute Pics

More cute pictures of Celia in January.

Vroom, Vroom

One of John's students sent this super cool pink car.  It's a walker and bouncer.  Celia hasn't quite figured out the "walking" part, but I'm sure in no time she'll be scooting around.

Snow Day February 2010

Yesterday it snowed 10 inches in the DFW area! It was a record - the previous was 7 inches. Celia didn't really know what was going on, but mom and dad loved it and had so much fun with her.  Dad even built a snowman (actually it was more like a snowbaby since Celia was bigger than it was!)

6 Months

Ok - so I don't have pictures today, but I thought I would give a quick update since Celia had her 6 month appointment yesterday.
Stats:
Celia's now 27 inches long (83rd percentile) and 14.4 pounds (13th percentile!). I was a little worried about the weight, but the doctor said not to be worried because she's still growing and she's healthy. In addition, she lost almost a pound when she had RSV a few weeks ago, so she has some catching up to do.
Food:
Celia ate her first bites of real food last night! She ate sweet potatoes and she loved them. Well at least I think she loved them, she ate the entire bowl. There were a few times she gagged and made funny faces, but I think she was just getting used to the texture and new taste.
Teeth:
Celia is getting her first tooth. I saw it about a week ago and it's coming in nicely. It's the bottom right tooth and you can really tell when she tries to chew on your fingers.
Movement:
Celia rolled over yesterday! Completely over. From her back to her tummy to her back and actually to her tummy again. She was like a little steam roller. We were at the doctors office and she was on the table and just kept going and going. Now we're going to have to be really careful where we place her.

As you can tell there's never a dull moment in our household. We are having so much fun and couldn't imagine we could love a little girl so much. We are so blessed to have her in our lives.

Laughing

Celia has the best laugh. She smiles and laughs all the time. It's hard for us to get pictures of her smiling because as soon as we put the camera in her face, she stops smiling. John was able to get this great video of Celia laughing.

Family Photos

John and I like to do picture cards for Christmas each year. We have so much fun picking out pictures of us on fun trips we took during the year. But this year we had something even more exciting - Celia! So when it was time to order Christmas cards, we went through our photos and realized that since Celia was born we had only taken a handful of family pics that included all three of us. So we enlisted Aunt Whitney's help and started taking some pictures. Some are at the house and the ones that actually ended up on the card are at NRH2O, which is a waterpark here in North Richland Hills (they had a Christmas tree out front).

She was obviously not happy about this!

First Trip to the Library

As many of you know, John and I are both avid readers. I mostly read fiction and John likes business and self-help books. But regardless, up until 6 months ago, we both had a book in our hand during a lot of our free time. These days John is able to squeeze in some reading before he goes to bed at night and I'm now downloading books to my iPod to listen on my hour-long commute. We are very excited to share our love of reading with Celia. We read a book every night before we go to bed and back in December (yes I'm that behind in posting), John took her for her first trip to the library. The library combines two of John's favorite things: books and free stuff, so it was only a matter of time before he introduced Celia to this haven he visits often. Here are some pics from their first trip.
